This year’s international HydroVision Conference took place the second week of July in Denver CO. HydroVision International is the largest worldwide gathering of hydropower professionals, for informative hydropower focused meetings, seminars, tours and informal exchanges. With support from host utilities Denver Water and Xcel Energy, over 60 presentations were made by the Bureau of Reclamation, EDF Hydro, Ontario Power Generation, and others involved in this eco-friendly industry.
The conference offered a full-day basic tutorial designed to help anyone new to hydropower. Conference attendees also had the opportunity to tour local hydro installations and research facilities. These included the National Renewable Energy Laboratory’s Flatirons Campus, the Bureau of Reclamation’s Technical Service Center, the 5-MW Boulder Canyon hydro plant, and the 45-MW Estes powerplant.
More than 200 companies participated in the exhibition days July 12-14. Weschler Instruments’ booth showcased the Digital Bargraph Meters and Transformer Advantage monitors. Also on display were products, such as the Gate Position Indicator, that are specifically designed for hydro applications.
After a two-year gap, the 2022 conference was a successful restart to this annual event. Next year, Weschler plans to exhibit at HydroVision 2023, to be held July 11-13 in Charlotte NC.
